Empowering Communities, Eradicating Hunger

This project focuses on producing and distributing CFBI Nutri Porridge to address malnutrition among street children and homeless families. By establishing a community-based grain mill, the initiative will ensure sustainable food production, create local employment, and empower vulnerable communities through improved nutrition and livelihoods.

Community Food Basket International (CFBI) is a Ugandan-based charity dedicated to alleviating hunger and food poverty. To achieve our mission of a hunger-free world, we propose the establishment of a comprehensive Grain Milling Facility and Rehabilitation Centre on a 15-acre plot. This hub will produce our proprietary “Eat Right” Instant Nutrition Formula and provide holistic support to the most vulnerable, including street children, refugees, and mothers. By combining immediate food aid, sustainable production, shelter, and skills training, we aim to create a transformative model for community resilience and health.

This proposal operationalizes the “Eat Right” philosophy by:

  • Providing Immediate Nutritional Support through a scientifically formulated instant nutrition formula.

  • Improving Diet Quality and modulating immune function with a diverse, fortified blend.

  • Nourishing Cognitive and Physical Development for pregnant mothers, infants, and growing children.

  • Equipping Communities with the skills and resources for sustainable food production and livelihoods.

Proposal Objectives

  • Assess and Identify Vulnerable Groups: Conduct surveys within 3 months to identify 200+ malnourished children and homeless families.

  • Provide Immediate Nutritional Support: Distribute “Eat Right” Instant Nutrition Formula and food baskets weekly for 12 months to 20 Street Children’s Homes, Refugee Communities, Breastfeeding Mothers, and Pregnant Mothers.

  • Improve Sustainable Food Security: Establish a 100-ton per day Grain Milling Facility within 6 months to produce and supply our fortified multi-grain flour and nutrition formula.

  • Address Homelessness & Rehabilitation: Construct a Rehabilitation Centre to house and support 100+ homeless individuals.

  • Foster Skills & Economic Independence: Operate a Vocational / Skilling Training Centre to empower residents and the wider community.

Detailed Scope of Work: The Integrated Eat Right Hub

The project scope on the 15-acre land is designed to create a self-reinforcing ecosystem:

  • The Grain Milling Facility: A state-of-the-art unit producing 100 tons per day of fortified multi-grain flour and the “Eat Right” Instant Nutrition Formula.

  • The Rehabilitation Centre & Residential Campus: A safe, supportive home for 100+ homeless individuals, offering shelter, psychosocial support, and a pathway to reintegration.

  • Agro-Farming, Silos, and Food Banks: Farmland for cultivating ingredients and demonstration plots. The facility will include silos for grain storage and serve as a community food bank for resilience.

  • Vocational / Skilling Training Centre: Equips beneficiaries with marketable skills in agro-processing, tailoring, construction, and other trades, ensuring long-term economic empowerment.
